Rates
Painting rates, not tiling's
Interior walls, ceilings and feature finishes each carry their own rate per m², with separate linear rates for detail cutting, trim and caulking. Set them once and every new quote starts from your numbers.
Built for painting
Painting is one of two trades Scopeflow works out materials for, not just prices. Your rate fields are interior walls, ceilings, feature finishes, prep, detail cutting and trim, and every quote turns your measurements into litres of paint.
Interior painting in Australia runs roughly $20-$45 per m². Exterior work sits higher at $25-$80 per m², where weather, height and surface condition drive most of the difference (source: Modernize Solutions' Australian painting rate guide).
A painter's quote lives or dies on prep. Two rooms the same size can take very different hours depending on what's under the old paint, which is why prep is its own rate and its own line rather than something folded into a per-m² average.
What you get
Rates
Interior walls, ceilings and feature finishes each carry their own rate per m², with separate linear rates for detail cutting, trim and caulking. Set them once and every new quote starts from your numbers.
Prep
Prep and patching has its own rate per m² and its own prep allowance, because the surface underneath is the thing that actually moves a painting quote.
Materials
Every quote turns measured area into litres of paint at real coverage rates, and adds primer, filler, sandpaper, masking tape, caulk and drop sheets on top.
Multi-room
Add the lounge, hallway and three bedrooms as separate spaces with their own measurements. One combined quote, one combined materials list.
Waste
Each surface carries its own waste percentage, applied to the quantities so the order allows for what really gets used.
Output
GST handled correctly, formatted properly, emailed to the client with an acceptance link before you have left the driveway.
Your rate fields
Pick Painting in your profile and the pricing fields become Interior walls ($/m²), Ceilings ($/m²), Feature finish ($/m²), Prep / patching ($/m²), Detail cutting ($/lm), Trim / skirting ($/lm), Caulking / sealing ($/lm), a surface prep allowance, and a paint / materials allowance. Alongside them sit your hourly rate, minimum job price, margin, GST treatment, payment terms and quote validity.
The job type list changes with it: Interior repaint, Feature wall painting, Ceiling painting, Exterior painting, New build paint package. Every field arrives with a starting number in it. They are a starting point to overwrite with your real rates, not a claim about what you should charge.
Add each room as its own space. Paint area, ceilings, feature walls, trim metres and prep, each measured separately, all rolled into one quote and one materials list.
Material list
Wall and ceiling areas convert to litres at roughly 8m² per litre for two coats, and primer at about 12m² per litre for one. Mark a space as needing prep and the list adds primer, filler and sandpaper. Trim metres become masking tape, and sealing metres become caulk cartridges. Drop sheets and masking consumables scale with the area.
Those coverage figures are trade rules of thumb, not a promise about a specific product. Check them against the tin for the paint you actually use.
The list is grouped, copy-ready, and can be emailed to your supplier from inside the app. You can also save your own real supplier prices under My Prices and have them matched against the list, so what you see is your pricing rather than a guess at the market.
